Derby Cathedral School is a joint venture between Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and Derby Cathedral who are committed to raising aspirations and creating opportunities for the young people of Derby.
Derby Cathedral School will be a school with its own Local Governing Body but will be able to access all of the operational structures, services and support already established within Derby Diocesan Academy Trust.
The school will equip students with skills and qualifications that will enable them to access high-quality careers in and around the city of Derby. The curriculum offer will be broad and balanced and our specialism in Mathematics and Music will be enhanced by strong links with the Cathedral Choir and Music Department, which has a track record of music tutelage.
Strong links will be forged with the family of schools across Derby and our state-of-the-art facilities will be shared with the community.
Inclusivity and high expectations will be integral to our ethos and mission. Derby Cathedral School will also offer a high-quality spiritual, moral, social and cultural education while promoting British values relating to democracy, the rule of law, tolerance and individual liberty.
We will offer a warm welcome and a first-rate education to students from families practising all faiths and those with no faith. Additionally, fully planned and appropriately staffed alternative provision will be available for those students who are opted out of any or all faith-based activities including collective worship.Derby Diocese Board of Education
Derby Diocese Board of Education
Derby Cathedral School will be the first Church of England secondary-phase school within the Diocese of Derby. There are already 110 primary church schools in the Diocese who work very hard to provide the best possible education for their pupils. We will work closely with the Local Authority and yourselves in the planning of the secondary school and will forge strong links with schools across Derby including the established family of Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) schools.
