The Book Trust's Book Buzz scheme is an opportunity for us as a school to give all of our new year 7 students a book to take home, for free, forever. We believe that reading is so important. Reading can help pupils achieve higher grades. Reading can help with sleeping and mental health problems. Reading is the key to future success in careers. To emphasise the importance and value of reading that we have in the school, each year 7 will be offered the chance to choose a book of their own to keep. There are 17 titles from which students can pick. They will be given a presentation in their English lessons but can also explore the books in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AE2oNRYBjo.
Once your year 7 child has chosen a book, they can either let their English teacher or Mrs McCrory know. Choices have to be in by the 30th September. There will be some tasters in the LRC should your child wish to have a sneak preview of a book.
