Christmas Concert December 15th
We have our first Christmas concert on December 15th - this will be performed by music and drama students from 7pm in our main hall. Students from year 7-11 are working on performances for this event. Information and tickets will be going out this week.
Learning in the Music Classroom
Student sin year 7 have just began a keyboard skills unit in which they are shown how to perform with a great technique, develop fluency and accuracy and coordination using the left hand (playing chords. Students have responded really well to this project and are using the lesson time really well to practice these skills.
Year 8 are learning about film music. This begins with a performance task (from Star Wars) and students then create their own underscore to match a film clip.
Year 9 have responded really well to our new project, based on the musical Hamilton. We are also planning a trip to London to see this musical, in March next tear. Letters regarding the trip will be sent out very soon!
Year 10 have worked on two ensemble (group) performances, one of which is their set work, Africa by Toto.
Year 11 have just completed their mock examination in music. They are spending a lot of time preparing for their non-examined assessment in performance and composition too.
