Two Derby Cathedral School students, who only started to ring in March, have made such good progress that they were able to ring proficiently for their own Carol Service at Derby Cathedral on Monday morning, 19th December 2022. Freddie Robertson and Isabella Dunworth joined the local band of ringers to make up the six ringers required to ring the bells on this occasion.

They first started learning to ring at the Cathedral in March this year, with some intensive training twice a week for a few months. They progressed well and joined the early practice on Tuesday evenings prior to the normal practice. Ringing is teamwork and one ringer is required for each bell. So, if all ten bells are to be rung, there need to be ten people working together as a team. Freddie and Isabella are fitting in well with the group and continue to improve.
